One of the most stunning locations in the Matale District that borders the Dumbara Forest Reserve is Riverston. At the top of Riverston Hill is a communication tower, which is accessible by foot.

In Sri Lanka's Central Province, Riverston lies between the districts of Matale and Kandy. There are multiple routes to go to this location. From Kandy city, it will take approximately 2.5 hours to reach the trek's beginning point.

By Bus: Leave Colombo at the Bastian Mawatha bus terminal and travel to Kandy. About three hours and fifteen minutes pass. After that, ride a Tuk-Tuk to Riverston from Kandy.

By Train: Travel to Kandy from the Colombo Fort train station by train. After that, you can travel to Riverston from Kandy by Tuk-Tuk.
